The State Government is investing in technical colleges that will set the standard for excellence in their design, learning environment and delivery of skills-based training for school-enrolled students.
Co-located with Findon High School, Findon Technical College will be the first South Australian Technical College to open in 2024, catering for a minimum of 120 students in its first year.
Findon Technical College will offer three industry training programs specialising in: Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Early Childhood Education and Care, and Health and Social Support. These programs focus on developing the skills and knowledge to step straight into the workforce, or to progress to an apprenticeship, traineeship, further training, or university pathway.
We are seeking an outstanding, experienced Finance & Operations Manager to join the innovative Technical College team in delivering our Industry Training Programs for an ongoing-role. We welcome candidates who are open to a permanent position as well as a fixed term contract. Role tenure can be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
As the Finance & Operations Manager in the technical college you will:

- Work closely with the leadership team, teachers and non-teaching staff of the college and work collaboratively with the Findon High School Business Manager on finance and administrative related matters.
- Coordinate the planning and development of the site budget in collaboration with the Findon High School Business Manager and ensure the timely and accurate completion of all finance, accounting and administrative reports.
- Develop systems to initiate, plan, implement, coordinate and deliver a range of college operational processes incorporating facility, plant, asset management and maintenance delivered internally and contracted externally in collaboration with RTO partners of the college.
- Provide leadership, supervision, direction, and support to staff including site induction and training ensuring WHS practices are administered to manage and address hazard identification of the technical college in collaboration with RTO partners.
- Lead and manage all compliance related to plant equipment and machinery to ensure compliance as per industry, RTO and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) requirements.
- Manage key relationships with the Department for Education, Department for Infrastructure, Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and industry partners.
What you need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience in management, budgeting, financial reporting, and operations of a larger organisation.
- High level communication and management skills
- High level ability to work to deadlines and be able to problem-solve and make clear and concise decisions independently and under pressure supporting effective organisational improvement and change.
- Understanding of Work, Health, and Safety Act 2012 as it applies to maintenance of plant and equipment machinery as per industry, RTO and ASQA requirements. (Desirable)
- Understanding of a Vocational Education and Training (VET) training environment and the regulatory requirements for VET delivery. (Desirable)
- Experience working for an RTO or in an education sector environment (Desirable)
