About Our ClientMy client is a statutory authority of the Victorian Government is responsible for managing a diverse estate of more than 4 million hectares including 3,000 land and marine parks and reserves making up 18 per cent of Victoria's landmass, 75 per cent of Victoria's wetlands and 70 per cent of Victoria's coastline.
Job Description
- Provide sound practical timely legal advice to senior management and staff with respect to legal, regulatory or compliance matters.
- Contribute to the development of standardised advice, information and documents to align with contemporary laws, requirements and practices
- Review and prepare new leases, licences, consents, permits and related documents, including drafting new special conditions where appropriate
- Instruct external lawyers on the preparation of commercial agreements and negotiate new agreements
- Review of contracts and tenders to mitigate legal risk.
The Successful Applicant
- A tertiary qualification in law is essential as well as having been admitted to practice law in Victoria.
- Post admission experience of 3 years + is minimum and more is highly desirable
- Exposure to practice in the following areas is highly desirable: general contracting, leasing, construction law and statutory interpretation.
- Demonstrated high-level judgement as well as experience in analytical problem solving and providing support for decision making.
