Job Description
This position is working with a well-known Federal Government agency located in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will primarily be responsible for leading the financial accounting and external reporting function. The Financial Reporting Manager will be leading on financial data provided to internal and external stakeholders are accurate, complete and timely. Ensure the establishment and maintenance of sound internal control framework to achieve the required integrity of data, which will include financial controls, training and reporting at each Business Unit. Finally you will be a trusted advisor on all financial accounting, external reporting and internal control related issues.
The Successful Applicant
- A tertiary qualification in accounting with full membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia, CPA Australia or its national or international equivalent.
- Significant strategic experience in providing technical accounting advice (FMA, FMR, Australian Accounting Standards (AAS), Financial Reporting Directions (FRDs)) to stakeholders (including senior leadership/executive team) in public sector.
- Extensive operational accounting experience, including the preparation of Annual Financial Statements and maintaining internal controls on financial reporting. Good understanding of audit and assurance requirements is required.
- Excellent people and project management skills, with the capacity to listen to others, identify their needs and provide appropriate direction, guidance and support.
- Experience in using SAP is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to successfully initiate, manage, implement and respond effectively to organisational and system change.
- Proven experience fostering collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders in a complex environment
