Requirements
The Senior Energy Market Modelling Consultant will lead our energy market modelling in Australia. You will work alongside other senior consultants and the Managing Director working on the creation and delivery of forecast models, ground-breaking analytics and research, training, subscriptions, and consultancy projects.
You will be required to support new and existing modelling and consulting projects, collaborating with delivering high quality, on budget, and on time projects. The candidate will also be expected to support with identifying new opportunities, upsell products and services, as well as with the development of new and exciting products.
You may also be seconded to existing and new clients to support the delivery of modelling consultancy work.
You will be working with a diverse range of clients, topics, and issues at the forefront of the energy market. Knowledge gained will be shared with colleagues across the business to ensure insights are deployed across the companys service delivery team.
You will have 4-6 years of demonstrable energy modelling experience and at least 2 years of strong analytical, research, and/or model development experience. Exposure in the Australian energy markets, NEM or WEM is highly regarded. This role requires in-depth understanding of the engineering and economic principles that underpins the Australian energy market: from network providers, policy and regulation to the wholesale and retailers. Previous consulting experience will be considered highly.
Demonstrable experience managing modelling and analytics projects. Collaboration skills are highly valued.
The location
Our head office is based in Melbourne, which is considered a great place to live and recently titled Australias cultural capital. There is also the option to work remotely from other capital cities in Australia as part of our commitment to flexible working. We currently have personnel in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.

SkillsYou have curiosity, passion and interest in the energy industry and a desire to learn more.You have at least 8 years of modelling experience and at least 6 years of strong analytical, research and model development experience.You have at least one year of consultancy experienceYou have worked for an energy generation company, preferably with renewable asset, for at least 5 years.Exposure in the Australian Energy Market NEM or WEM is highly regardedDemonstrable experience managing modelling and analytics projects.Must hold at least a bachelors and masters degree in Electrical Engineering and has knowledge of Economic Operation of Power Systems, Statistical Design, and Advance Mathematical Methods.You have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation capabilities, and proven problem-solving ability which will enable in identifying and clearly presenting solutions and opportunities available in the market to our clients.Comfortable managing several modelling workstreams simultaneously, and to re-prioritize to meet deadlines.Advanced mathematical modelling skills in PLEXOS, Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming (SDDP), Power World, PSSE of any load flow applications, Python, R, or any other highly numerical application such as: MATLAB or Mathematica.Experience in running very large market dispatch models.Advanced data analytics experience on SQL, and Python, C#, VBA, R, SQL.People person with interest on developing relationships and support business development
