Job Description
Business Analysis/Budgeting & Forecasting
- Guide and undertake investigation into key variances to budget and expectations for purposes of control.
- Undertake and guide the collation of relevant information to conduct monthly divisional analysis and communicate results to Business Managers as appropriate.
- Analyze business results for unusual variations from expectations and communicate the variations to CFO and GFC in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain processes and controls that are leading indicators of the business' performance.
- Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process, including Profit and Loss Budget, Balance Sheet Budget, Cash Budget, Capital and Staff requirements.
Reporting & Compliance
- Responsible for compliance with IFRS and other mandatory reporting requirements.
- Guide and verify the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial and operating reports such that they accurately reflect the conditions of the business and provide reliable information for control and management purposes within specified timeframes.
- Facilitate the preparation and collation, process and post the various End-of-Month journals required to complete the management accounts, verifying the accuracy of the end results.
- Contribute to the preparation of documents to be lodged with Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) and Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) to meet corporate requirements.
- Responsible for the preparation of timely and accurate Statutory Financial Accounts that are prepared in accordance with approved financial accounting practices, procedures and standards.
- Responsible for the preparation of the Annual and Half Year Financial Reports to compile financial information, liaising and cooperating with auditors as required.
- APRA reporting preparation and reviews.
- Researching and writing technical accounting papers, detailing the impact to the company and the changes required.
Taxation & GST Compliance
- Responsible for ownership of the process for ensuring compliance of the Group's tax obligations including income tax, GST monthly Business Activity Statement preparation and collation, FBT, R&D and other indirect tax obligations.
- Responsible for ownership of the preparation and completion of the tax effect accounting for financial statements.
- Co-ordinate the collation of Research & Development (R&D) data to ensure the company maximises all available R&D related tax deduction opportunities.
- Ensure the company complies with cross border Transfer Pricing regulations and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
Business Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Contribute to the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives on the internal control environment to ensure existing processes are in-line with industry best practice and updated regulatory and compliance guidelines.
- Integrating and building reporting for new acquired entities into the group.
Month-end Reporting
- Posting journals, managing month end close processes and responsible for balance sheet reconciliations preparation and review.
- Preparation of monthly financial and management reports and analytics.
Financial Analysis
- Assist with excel modelling including working with large data sets
- Coordinating with various other departments to assist with various business cases
- Assist with due diligence/valuations
The Successful Applicant
To be considered for this position, you will ideally have trained within a big 4 or mid-tier environment and possess strong technical skills. This includes those coming straight out of the firms at the Manager/Senior Manager level, or those without experience in the firms but a track record in external reporting within a listed environment for several years. The role will require somebody who isn't afraid to be hands-on and who has previous experience leading teams.
