Job summary
Ravenswood Gold Pty Ltd is the new owner and operator of Ravenswood Gold Mine, located approximately 130kms south of Townsville. The mine is a proven producing asset and has transitioned from underground mining to a large scale, low-cost open pit mining operation.The Townsville Region in North Queensland, Australia, offers diverse experiences from the awe-inspiring Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage Wet Tropics and the enchanting outback towns of Charters Towers and Ravenswood.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a self-motivated and innovative Environment, Approvals and Community (EAC) Superintendent for Ravenswood Gold. Reporting to the Environment, Approvals and Community (EAC) Manager, you will be responsible delivering sustained performance in environmental, approvals and community programs through strong leadership and by championing responsible management practices. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with Ravenswood Gold, government, traditional owners, community and heritage stakeholders to ensure the sustainable development of Ravenswood Golds mining operation along with maintaining compliance and our social licence. You will also be responsible for mentoring and developing direct reports and effectively managing consultants and contractors. To be considered for this position, applicants must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of Queensland Legislation (namely Environmental Protection, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Queensland Heritage) and a background in leading site-based teams in the mining or resources industry being highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEDemonstrate safety leadership by ensuring all activities undertaken by the site EAC Team and its contractors and visitors are undertaken in accordance with Ravenswood Golds safety policies, practices, and procedures.Providing key strategic and technical input to operational plans and managing resources (people, systems, financial, physical, and technological).Manage relationships and maintain open honest communication with key internal and external stakeholder groups.Deliver timely and accurate advice on environmental, approval and community matters.Continuously develop, maintain and implement the site HSEC Management System.Ensure environmental (and community) risks, impacts and obligations associated with business activities are identified, assessed, controlled, maintained and managed.Ensure the Ground Disturbance / Land Clearance process meets all compliance, environmental, heritage and cultural commitments.Support operations to develop and achieve Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans, mitigate Financial Provisioning Scheme risk categories and progress Estimated Rehabilitation Cost application processes in collaboration with regulatory and external stakeholder groups.Manage and coordinate a number of EAC monitoring and reporting programs including compliance, air quality and noise, blasting, surface and groundwater, potable water, sewage, seepage collection systems, regulated structures and referrable dams, NPI, NGERS, waste management, land management, rehabilitation, community complaints and Cultural/European heritage programs. Manage Ravenswood Golds landholder compensation agreements and Native Title agreements with relevant Aboriginal Parties.
ABOUT YOUA recognised degree in either engineering, environmental science / management or equivalent.Demonstrated experience in effectively managing the environmental and community functions within the mining or heavy industry.Previous experience in delivering sustained excellence in rehabilitation and closure practices. Strong computing skills that enable you to assess, manipulate and communicate diverse and technically complex data both internally and externally, not limited to environmental management, GIS systems and professional reporting platforms.Proven leadership ability to develop team capability while influencing to set direction and guide operations to meet business objectives and targets. Capability to build robust and constructive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders that enable mutually beneficial outcomes.Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
