job detailsRandstad are proud to currently be partnering with a large State Government Department in recruiting a Paralegal to join their unit. This role is based in the Brisbane CBD within walking distance of public transport. The contract is 6 months initially with strong potential for extension.
You will provide efficient and effective support by performing a range of paralegal and administrative support duties in a timely, accurate and confidential manner. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in the legal field whether in administration, as a paralegal or as a lawyer.
Your new role
As a Paralegal your duties will be tasks including but not limited to
...
- Providing high level of legal administration support
- Records management related tasks such as file sorting, renaming and correspondence management
- Maintaining an effective records management system and managing computerised databases
- Prioritise tasks to ensure work is completed within designated time frames and use discretion to recognise when to escalate potential issues to the Senior Administration Officer and/or clinical staff
- Complete any other ad hoc general administration duties to a high standard
- Providing paralegal assistance to legal staff within a legal team as directed. This may include, but not be limited to:
- Filing and serving legal documents on solicitors, barristers, doctors, businesses and other persons.
- Conducting searches for information in various Court Registries, Tribunals, hospitals, businesses, companies etc.
- Compiling and preparing documents including briefs to experts, mediators or briefs to Counsel, indexes to brief and client files.
- Supervision of inspection of documents; notation of account fees for copies, generating appropriate correspondence
- Providing administrative support for Trial preparation and assistance including but not limited to drafting routine court documentation
- Legal research including drafting routine correspondence.
- Drafting routine court documentation.
- Arranging meetings, appointments, conferences and interviews as required.
- Undertaking administrative tasks and other duties as directed.
What will you need to be successful in this role
To be considered for this role you would have skills & experience in the following to be successful:
- Must either have Paralegal experience, be studying law and have some experience working in a law firm/government department, agency or organisation (e.g. legal secretary
- Achieve results with minimal supervision
- Have an extremely high level of attention to detail
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to analyse numerical and written information
- Reliable and adaptable to respond to changes in workloads and priorities.
The ideal candidate for this role will be professional, confident and have demonstrated experience in the following areas
- Previous experience within a similar role is required
- Public sector experience is considered in high regard - either State or Federal Government
- Management of confidential and sensitive information
- Data entry skills with the ability to quickly and accurately enter data into systems
- High attention to detail across various administrative tasks
- The ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders
- High performance working in both autonomously and as part of a team
- Excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent punctuality and attendance
What Youll Receive
- $44.49-49.37 + per hour plus super
- Brisbane CBD location
- Consideration would be given to placing someone at the AO4 rate if they had considerable experience
