The Opportunity
The Institute of Railway Technology (IRT) is the premier track and vehicle research centre in Australia and it provides world-leading solutions in the areas of wheel-rail interface design, track design and maintenance as well as rollingstock assessments and modelling. IRT undertakes technology development, applied research and consulting activities for the railway industry.
Due to new projects and the increasing demand for our services, we have a newly created role for a Deputy Team Leader Instrumentation and Technology Systems to join our team. The Deputy Team Leader Instrumentation and Technology Systems will be required to work independently or in a team and show a high level of professional maturity. They will perform a critical role in supporting the achievement of objectives and deployment of resources for the delivery of IRT projects. You will also be required to interact with clients and industry in order to fulfil obligations and develop relationships. This is a technical specialist position, not an academic role.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Team Leader Instrumentation and Technology Systems. This leadership role will focus on: Managing large research and consulting projects within IRT related to condition monitoring of the railway infrastructure Preparing research proposals, assisting with the management of budget, resources, materials, logistics and regulatory compliance Supporting the achievement of objectives and deployment of resources by deputising for and assisting team leaders Leading individual research projects for industry partners, involving members from other teams and consulting with collaborators, clients, academics and professional staff
To be successful in this role you will bring your: applied experience and expertise in instrumentation and related, testing, monitoring, data acquisition, automation systems, data analysis and reporting, proven project management skills and the ability to provide leadership and supervision to staff members, where safety and compliance are critical.
