- Prepare well researched briefing notes and advice using established economic methodologies applied in innovative and pragmatic ways.
- Provide technical advice on economic evaluation processes to ensure a thorough understanding of the economic impacts of policies and the consequences of not implementing appropriate policy.
- Undertake economic evaluation of business cases, and program implementation to contribute to the improved valuation and management of the environment.
- Work with stakeholders who are not economists to define and scope economic evaluation needs
- Apply or develop governance best practice principles
- Collaborate with consultants undertaking economic studies to outputs align with government and corporate priorities and policies.
Key challenges
- Communicate economic principles, frameworks, and concepts concisely to environmental policy experts.
- Identify and develop indicators for policy evaluation to improve the economic and social basis of policy advice for government decision-making.
- Interpret imperfect data sources to quantify costs and benefits of wide-ranging policy impacts, including externalities and behavioural changes
You will need to be available for a minimum of 3 months, but the manager indicated strong potential for an extension or temp to perm.
