St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals are co-located in the same facility, and opened in 2015. The hospitals provide both public and private services for people living in Perth's eastern suburbs and nearby regional areas. The hospital includes an Accident and Emergency Department, critical care unit, mental health unit, and maternity ward.
Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
The Clinical Nurse Consultant is responsible for the delivery of patient centred care within their area of speciality to achieve optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources whilst supporting and promoting the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care (SJGHC). The Clinical Nurse Consultant has direct responsibility for improving and maintaining standards, developing solutions and delivering outcomes consistent with service and organisational imperatives and targets. As a key leader in the interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Nurse Consultant will ensure that the Unit meets the requirement for delivery of a patient centred service against key performance indicators and in accordance with the Mission and Values of SJGHC.
The position provides a consultation and liaison service within their area of expertise to relevant internal and external customers and consumers.
The PositionActs as a clinical resource in the area of clinical specialty, in consultation with the multidisciplinary teamInitiates and coordinates care of patients with complex problems in the area of clinical specialty.Acts as a resource in planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients.Promotes and facilitates patient discharge education, and arranges community support as requiredDevelops and maintains excellent standards of care in area of specialization including ongoing evaluation and promotion of quality improvement initiatives.Fosters a clinical team culture of interdisciplinary collaboration leading to improved patient outcomes.Maintains advanced clinical skills relevant to area of practice.Demonstrates positive role modeling and leadership as outlined in the SJGHC Leadership Profile.Demonstrates both clinical and administrative leadership through effective communication, interpersonal skills, change management ability and the development of a high performance team that exhibits a culture of professional accountability and quality service.In conjunction with the relevant Manager, maintains accountability for the ongoing financial management and monitoring of the service cost centres including productivity, activity and utilisation in line with agreed budgetary parameters and performance targets.
You will hold a current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse, with post registration qualification in area of specialisation and relevant experience in area of Wound care with knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards, including Nurses Act, Code of Conduct, Occupational Safety & Health, and Equal Employment Opportunity.
To succeed you will have well-developed skills in communication, including conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving, understanding and commitment to quality improvement and the National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards process, skills in clinical teaching, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary health care environment
