Job summary
This role will perform the Design and Engineering function for projects and is accountable to the Chief Engineer / Head of Engineering / Design Manager.It is responsible for managing the timely delivery of the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning documentation as related to projects.
About the role Provide technical design solutions for the electrical disciplines of LV design packages, as appropriate. Interact with the internal and external Interface and Integration teams. Participate in an Electrical Technical Working Group to discuss and resolve technical issues with the client. Participate in self-perform electrical discipline team meetings
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Achieve engineering targets and objectives as defined in the project program. Provide input and be responsible for the production of Project Documentation (Design Reports, Drawings, Programs, Quality Plans, Project Document Management Plans, etc.). Ensure the design documentation satisfies the project requirements. Prepare and issue Inspection & Test documentation ensuring adequacy of content. Ensure a common approach to design templates, interface management, design deliverables, reporting and delivery program management. Review design outputs to ensure compliance with the project requirements. Ensure that the project management systems are followed for compliance by the engineering team. Ensure that all elements of the design are coordinated between all design team members. Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of design resources allocated to the project. Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications, and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design. Ensure that the design conforms to all safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operating requirements. Endeavour to ensure that the design is executed such that the cost of the related constructed items, are within the project budget and minimise design rework. Provide all necessary support to the procurement, construction, and commissioning teams. Monitor external design consultants (where applicable) to ensure that the elements of their design (including verification) are coordinated with overall design, procurement, and construction requirements. Monitor and control timeliness of outputs for all design and liaise with the management to ensure project requirements are satisfied. Monitor and control design costs within budget and liaise with management in relation to any design changes. Participate in design review meetings and close out design issues in a timely manner. Assist the construction team with on-site equipment installation. Manage the process of commissioning for the area of your responsibility. Provide mentoring to graduate engineers and design engineers. Create a team culture that fosters high performance and personal improvement mindset. Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements. Adhere to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards for the workplace. Undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
About you 4-year degree qualification to Bachelor status in engineering (or equivalent industry experience in the absence of a degree). 3 years+ experience in the industry (in infrastructure, technology, or related market verticals) Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally. Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands. Ability to cope under pressure. Attention to detail, particularly with spelling and grammatical ability. Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing structure, process, information and/or technology. Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access and email. Some proficiency in planning / supply chain software is preferred.
