They are seeking an outcome driven procurement professional, who can lead, negotiate, and deliver strategic improvements to the procurement function that ultimately delivers value for the Department. About the role:
The Category Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of category management strategies, programs and business plans that improve and promote supply chain management for medium to high value, medium to high-risk items. This will involve:
- Acting as a lead in your team to deliver innovative, strategic category management plans within a largely service-based category
- Providing high level procurement advice to stakeholders to facilitate added value
- Analysis of and reporting on supplier performance, supply chain risks and procurement activities to identify opportunities for improvement
- Enabling collaboration between procurement and a diverse range of stakeholders in order to align objectives and achieve procurement outcomes
- Managing multiple projects and scheduling activities within a challenging supplier market, while maintaining a customer focus
- Working as a senior member of your category team, assisting an experienced and supportive manager to drive the team vision forward
What you need to succeed:
- Experience in the preparation and negotiation of complex procurement contracts (end to end)
- High level communication and interpersonal skills to confidently develop and manage stakeholder relationships
- Ideally you will have had exposure to or experience in category management strategies
- Experience in acting as a senior, or go-to member of the team
- Experience in managing issues, risks and trends associated with a variety of procurement across goods and services
- Demonstrated capacity to think strategically and to formulate strategies to influence and manage multiple competing priorities
- Qualifications in procurement, supply chain, law, or business beneficial
- You will display proactive problem-solving abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset
- You will be a community minded individual, passionate about ensuring the delivery of quality education
