About The Role:
As a Senior Risk Officer, you will be at the forefront of implementing and maintaining the Statewide risk and contingency planning function within Recycling Victoria. This pivotal role involves coordinating responsibility entity documentation, developing and continuously improving processes and guidelines, and ensuring effective risk, consequence, and contingency planning for the circular economy market. Key Responsibilities:
- Circular Economy Risk Management: Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Recycling Victoria Circular Economy Risk Consequence and Contingency Plan (CERCC). Develop strategies, frameworks, standards, and procedures to meet legislative requirements.
- Sector Risk Analysis: Lead the development of sector risk analysis by conducting risk workshops to identify, analyze, and evaluate sector risks. Correlate these risks with responsible entity requirements.
- Guideline Development: Contribute to the development of guidelines related to risk, consequence, and contingency planning for responsible entities, which will be published on the department's website.
- Compliance Monitoring: Assist in developing processes to ensure responsible entities fulfill their duties to prepare and submit a statement of assurance to the Head of Recycling Victoria by the specified deadline.
- Risk Advisory: Provide guidance and advice on risk-related issues to support risk identification, evaluation, treatment, reporting, and escalation.
- Research and Innovation: Undertake research to identify opportunities for improving risk registers, frameworks, and tools. Promote the integration of sector risk thinking across Recycling Victoria and with other resilience sectors.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build, consult, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to embed risk frameworks, processes, and systems effectively.
- Reporting and Communication: Assist in the preparation and review of reports, briefing notes, submissions, and correspondence related to sector risk management, in accordance with departmental requirements.
- Risk Culture Enhancement: Contribute to developing and implementing strategies to improve and promote risk management maturity and culture.
Soft Skills:
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate problems from multiple perspectives and deliver effective solutions, considering the wider business context.
