About the role
To develop and manage the execution of the media, communications and content strategy and initiatives that drive: Visitation and revenue to Tarongas two Zoos Positive perception of, and greater awareness of the Taronga Conservation Society Australia and the work it does including any of its capital works programs or other fundraising initiatives, Brand awareness and brand advocacy for Taronga Conservation Society Australia, Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
Key accountabilities Develop, plan and implement the media, communications and content strategy and budget for Taronga Conservation Society Australia that delivers on Tarongas overarching strategic plan and vision. Lead and manage the media and communications team to deliver a strategic media, social media and content activities that communicates Tarongas purpose, grows revenue, strengthens Tarongas reputation and services the communications needs of the organisation. Liaise with and influence affiliated NSW and Federal Government agencies and Ministerial contacts, provide specialist policy advice to TCSA Managers and maintain excellent relationships with TCSA internal and external stakeholder groups. Manage the team to provide media, social media, communication and content expertise and advice across all aspects of the organisations operations, including the Foundation, Commercial, Conservation Science, Education and Capital works, providing strategic direction and input as appropriate. Ensure the media and communications team utilise all media channels (including where appropriate paid, owned and earned), taking full accountability for developing and expanding the teams knowledge, capability and impact in this area. Provide strategic communication advice and implement strategies where required to improve and strengthen Tarongas reputation and brand value, including responding to and solving emerging and immediate issues by providing timely crisis support across the organisation. Lead major media and communications projects, including capital and funding announcements, contencious issues and externally produced documentaries series, while also undertaking pitching of ideas and development of policies that facilitate TCSA achieving its strategic objectives.
About you
We are looking for candidates that have/ are willing to: Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience in a similar capacity. Previous experience and achievement as a Manager within a competitive, media and communications environment. Recent experience using strategic media and communications activity, demonstrated business or organisational outcomes. Ability to lead a diverse and complex team under high pressure situations. Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
