The Position

St John of God Geraldton Hospital is a 60 bed private hospital, providing services that include General Medicine, Surgery, Maternity, Special Care Nursery, Paediatrics, Day Surgery, After-hours GP, Oncology and Palliative care to the people of Geraldton and surrounding communities.

Are you an OHS professional who is looking to take the next step in their career? We have an exciting opportunity for an OHS Coordinator join the friendly, welcoming and dedicated SJGHC Geraldton team.

As OHS Coordinator, you will contribute to development and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and monitoring OHS activities to continuously improve OHS, including: The design, develop and implement innovative site-level activities to improve OHS Driving site-level identification, implementation and monitoring of risk controls

This position is being offered on a permanent part-time basis, working 28 hours per fortnight.

The successful candidate will have: A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care. Possession of a tertiary or vocational qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. Ability to work under general direction within a clear framework of accountability, exercising substantial responsibility and autonomy in area of work. Detailed comprehensive and integrated OHS technical knowledge, underpinned by a theoretical understanding. Ability to apply cognitive and technical skills to develop creative solutions to non-routine and sometimes complex problems in a defined but wide range of environments. Can apply cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse, synthesise and act on information from a range of workplace and external sources, considering the views of others as a basis for decision making. Ability to use communication, engagement and leadership skills to initiate and support change. Ability to establish communication channels and develop and maintain relationships to influence and mentor line leaders. Apply mentoring skills to develop the capability of caregivers. Can develop reports for site leaders on OHS performance with recommendations for site-level action to improve OHS. Personal planning and organisational skills to meet work/project deadlines. Health care industry experience (desirable) Experience in leading a team (desirable)
