We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally. We are a major player in the Life & Health reinsurance market in Australia and New Zealand and we have the benefit of being small and nimble but with the financial backing of one of the largest reinsurers in the world.

We are seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join our Risk and Compliance team. The role will be a permanent position reporting directly to our Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

This is a senior role within a small team which will require you to use your legal knowledge and skills to advise on all things compliance.

About the role

As a Senior Compliance Officer you will be responsible for the management of the Companys Compliance Program including the Compliance Framework.

Your day may look a little like:Overseeing, challenging and advising the Company on adherence to its Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) compliance arrangements;Constantly reviewing and updating the Company compliance obligations register;Maintaining documentation of appropriate compliance measures;Monitoring and reporting compliance measures;Being involved in the issue, incident and breach assessment process;Undertaking a regular review of the Compliance Framework as part of the annual Compliance Reporting process, implementing improvements as deemed necessary;Providing advice to the Board Risk Committee, Executive and Senior Management on compliance issues; andAssisting with the development of training in relation to compliance matters.

You will need to have:Legal knowledge and experience (current practicing certificate is preferred but not required)Experience working in Life Insurance is preferred however General Insurance experience will be consideredProfessional integrity with technical and statutory knowledgeRelationship and people management skills with the ability to liaise at Board and senior level Clear and effective communication skillsAbility to meet deadlines with excellent organisation skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectivelyStrong analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to work with minimal supervision and as part of a teamConfidentiality
