IFF is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Creative and Design team as Food Technologist (Designer) Culinary.

Your Focus

As Food Technologist (Designer) Culinary, you are required to apply your Ingredients and Flavour application knowledge to formulate savoury products, plant-based meats, sauces, soups and condiments.

You will be responsible for providing technical service, and technical product support activities through disciplined project management, maximised use of existing intellectual property and effective business partner relationships to deliver high quality, timely and commercially sound responses to the market, and as appropriate, regulatory and industry professional bodies.

This role is based in Melbourne, Australia and will report to Design Team Leader, Culinary and Snacks.

How you will contribute

Hands on creation and application of savoury products, plant-based meats, sauces, soups, condiments, ready meals and meat products utilising IFFs range of protein, flavours, emulsifiers, hydrocolloids, texturants and food protection.Develop or localise product concepts and demonstration kits to promote IFF technology, capability and ingredient design.Knowledgeable, reliable, and timely technical support across business functions, including Commercial, Product Managers, Flavourists, Food Technologists, Marketing, Regulatory and Operations.Disciplined project management to deliver high quality, on-time results to external and internal customers.Initiate, organise, conduct, and evaluate pilot plant trials and supporting laboratory work to produce reliable data concerning performance of IFF products.Develop or deliver customer workshops and presentations to raise customer awareness of IFF capabilities and ingredients.Problem solving for both internal and external customers. Job Requirements

What you will need to be successful

Tertiary qualifications in food technology, food engineering or related discipline. 5-7 years applications experience in product development, focused on culinary and savoury applications.Food industry experience in an R&D or production environment, with knowledge of product formulation, as well as process troubleshooting will be well regarded.Demonstrated capability in experimental design, detailed results analysis, and sound technical judgement.Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations professionally and effectively.Experience in the use of protein in the development of plant-based meat will be highly regarded.Experience in use of food protection and flavor.Experience in use of stabilisers, texturants and emulsifiers.Sound understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in production environmentsProven ability to work and manage time and priorities un-supervised.Commercial acumen and proven ability to balance technical needs with commercial needs.Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Willingness to travel within Oceania.
