Develop and implement category management strategies to meet business needs, enhance
stakeholder engagement, and motivate contractors to optimise service outcomes.
Lead as the category expert, including:
business case development;
specification development;
RFT response questions development;
RFT returnable schedule development;
contract terms and conditions development;
participation in tender evaluations;
participation in contract negotiation; and
contribute to and sign off on the tender recommendation report.
Strategic Management
Propose new and revised category strategies to management which will contribute to LGP
business and performance goals.
Actively participate in the ongoing procurement process improvement to enhance the delivery of
strategic sourcing initiatives.
Undertake market research, to ensure that up-to-date industry and supply market knowledge is
maintained.
Set contract budget targets, and drive team to achieve expected budgetary performance targets.
Contract Management
Develop tailored contract management strategies, and manage the allocated categories
accordingly.
Drive contract performance, based on agreed business case and category management
strategies.
Provide high-quality and up-to-date vendor management and sourcing advice, across the
portfolio.
Negotiate with contractors to ensure resolution of contractual matters (including delivery and act
as an intermediary between the Customer and Contractor) in consultation with an Executive.
Customer Service & Communication
Coordinate visits to A-class and B-class contractors, as part of category management, to resolve
issues, and to maintain required levels of contractor customer service.
Provide category advice to councils, on request of Business Development Managers,
maintaining a high level of customer service.
Reporting & Administration
Maintain and monitor contract performance.
Maintain and track benefits/savings delivered through strategic sourcing and delivery initiatives.
On-time delivery of periodic status reports on contracts, and relevant strategic & business plan
objectives.
People and Performance Management
Lead the category team to combine and deliver set objectives.
Conduct regular meetings to review workload, priorities, resourcing and work issues.
Review documents drafted by category team, as required.
Undertake staff management responsibilities, where required, in line with policy and
procedure.
