Kavala Collective (@kavalacollective) is a luxury activewear and swimwear brand inspired by the yoga, surf and wanderlust lifestyle.Born out of LA, Kavala sells in between the USA, Australia & International. Our aim is to consistently produce unique and gorgeous activewear that has it all: beautiful prints with the highest quality materials and the most flattering silhouettes for every body type.
About the Role:
Kavala is looking for an amazing freelance Product Developer/ Garment Tech in the immediate term on a project basis to create tech packs, spec sheets & refine measurements for a number of our existing styles. We are looking for someone who has experience with specifically lycra based material that can help us adjust the fit of our current styles to perfection, and help us maintain these measurement blocks throughout all of our products. These products are spanning across our swim separates, surf suits, sports bras, and activewear bottoms categories.

Current Project Details:Kavala Collective works off of product blocks that we design with new prints for each collection dropCurrently we have 19 products in total that we need to refine the fit and sizing of each product across our swim, surfwear & activewear categoriesFor each product we would like to:Tweak the fit to perfectionCreate consistent sizing with standard sizing and from product to productWe then need to set up tech packs, spec sheets & get detailed measurements for each piece to create garment blocks
Your Role Specifically:Meet with the founder & design team to do a fitting of all of the current garments under discussionGive fit suggestions using your knowledge of lycra based material to make comments and changesOrganize these comments and changes to send to our supplier for our first round of edited samplesCreate a unified standard size for Kavala and make sure all garments adhere to that size guide and are consistent in fit across all productsCreate size grading for each product with specific measurements Once samples are approved, create blocks for each garment including:Tech PackSpec SheetDetailed MeasurementsCreate a size spec library for all of our garment blocks
To be successful you will need:3+ years of experience in a similar role with a similar brandA strong knowledge of garment construction, fit and textile developmentExperience in working specifically with lycra-based products (swim, active, etc.)Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Illustrator SkillsAttention to detail, organisation & time management skillsAbility to meet deadlines, revise work effectively if required and take on board constructive feedbackA high level of fashion knowledge and an extensive understanding on garment constructionA positive and enthusiastic attitude :)
We would love to work with someone that would be open to continuing with us on a project basis! Our next projects would include assisting us to design new styles for our next collections and to conduct all aspects of a Garment Tech role to take all samples from first prototype to bulk production.
