Why your Role Matters

The Division of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is responsible for supporting a diverse and inclusive staff and student community and working with partner communities and broader society towards positive change. The Division of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is also responsible for several KPIs for staff and student equity. The Engagement Officer (Schools & Students) is responsible for building positive relationships with key school contacts and confidently communicating the value and purpose to ensure effective engagement with schools and students in the in-school, online and on-campus pre-tertiary educational outreach program designed by Access, Equity & Inclusion.

Who you are: A relevant degree and experience, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of qualifications, training and experience. A degree in the area of Secondary Teaching would be highly desirable. Superior knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy to facilitate pre-tertiary learning experiences. Excellent stakeholder management and written and verbal communication skills to ensure positive student and school engagement in the program. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of people including University staff and students, and external partners. Demonstrated high level ability to plan, schedule and manage projects within set timeframes and allocated resources. Demonstrated high level organisational administrative skills including the ability to prioritise own tasks and operational needs, and work autonomously as required. Demonstrated high level project reporting, action research and program evaluation skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Australian school and University systems and contextual issues for schools and students from low SES backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work independently and adaptively, show initiative, solve problems and contribute to the development of evidence- informed strategies for the work area. A full and unencumbered driver's licence and the ability and willingness to work outside of normal working hours and work at locations across Sydney and NSW.
