The HR & Safety Co-ordinator is responsible for the development and engagement of a consistent and positive people and safety culture across the organisation. The role will provide advice and support to employees on all HR activities, WHS and risk related issues, along with a focus on championing and promoting health and wellbeing and opportunities to all staff providing guidance and support as required.
The role is responsible for administering human resources activities, mainly recruitment and on-boarding, off-boarding, however with the support of the wider team, assisting with programs relating to training coordination, recruitment, policy and procedure reviews, employee relations, inductions, and compliance advice.
Key Responsibilities:
Work, Health, and Safety
- Provide professional knowledge, advice and coaching across WHS legislation, policies, and processes to staff.
- Maintain and review the local requirements for SIGs WHS management system to ensure the Companys legal obligations are met.
- Facilitate accident/incident investigations and assist with identification of corrective actions arising from.
- Ensure hazards and unsafe workplace conditions/practices have been identified, reported, and are actioned.
- Participate and support in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with the WHS and relevant legislation.
- Coordinate with the wider WHS team and meeting requirements; actions and distribute information and advice as required.
- Coordinates and maintains the organisations Risk Management systems and registers as required.
- Participate and support in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with WHS certification requirements and relevant legislation.
Human Resources
- The management and coordination of end-to-end recruitment and selections activities.
- Coordinate the interview process with the hiring manager and candidates; then assist in the interviewing process.
- Organize pre-employment medicals, psychometric tests, VEVO checks, and undertake reference checks on candidates as required.
- Prepare and update recruitment records, databases, and candidate records.
- Co-ordinating all aspects of employee on-boarding and off-boarding
- Managing the administrative component of employees changes to conditions of their employment in a confidential manner.
- Help to maintain compliance through review of policy and procedures, as required.
- A focus on supporting initiatives to enhance employee engagement and performance levels.
- Assisting with P&C reporting as required.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
- Formal qualifications in HR, administration and or WHS practices (or currently working towards).
- WHS and Injury management knowledge desired, and or general understanding of employment and WHS legislation, compliance requirements, and regulatory changes impacting the workforce.
- Effective written and oral communication skills including skills in negotiating, developing, and managing cooperative working relationships and resolving issues by reporting and negotiating.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong proactive and energetic style with the enthusiasm to learn and develop.

- Educate and coach our managers, empowering them to effectively deal with HR and or WHS related issues and incidents.
- Undertake activities to ensure we understand the hazards and risks in our business to keep our people, customers, and visitors safe.
- Working with the wider HR/ Safety team, and continuously review and improve our HR systems (the employee lifecycle process), and WHS Management programs.
- A passion for continuous improvement, constantly looking for opportunities to improve our processes and culture.
- A track record of delivering top-tier customer service will be greatly valued.
- Exceptional organisational skills to drive efficiency and set the tone for our work.
- A career mindset, with a strong desire to learn and grow in the role.
We offer a modern corporate office environment, with flexible work options. This is a stand-alone role on site, however part of a larger remote HR/ Safety & Regulatory team.
