Job Description
Knowledge and capability building * Model Victorian Public Sector Values
* Provide employees with the leadership, information and guidance required to achieve outcomes and to ensure that these meet compliance requirements
* Establish and maintain a safe and healthy workplace that conforms to compliance standards and supports responsible workplace behaviours
Stakeholder engagement * Manage relationships with and between program or project stakeholders
* Provide information and communications to program stakeholders
* Undertake consultation processes
Solutions development * Identify, assess and utilise appropriate methods of scoping a project to deliver business solutions.
* Identify, document and analyse the various project delivery options and select the optimal solution
Strategic planning * Identify and document program or project risks and issues and develop effective management strategies
* Initiate, accelerate, decelerate, redefine and terminate projects or activities as necessary to achieve outcomes and strategic benefits
* Provide leadership and guidance and be an identified point of escalation for issues and challenges
* Use appropriate project management planning and monitoring tools to track project progress
Program/project governance and compliance
* Establish and manage governance arrangements, processes, bodies and working groups
* Establish and monitor consistent project/program reporting and communicate this to relevant parties and decision-makers
* Make objective decisions on whether to continue or close projects by evaluating a project's ability to meet business needs.
* Manage complex interdependence between projects/programs and make decisions accordingly
* Manage multiple deliverable and direct the flow of transformation to meet organisational goals
* Undertake post-project/post-program benefits reviews, lessons learned and evaluations
The Successful Applicant
Project Management * Uses persuasion and negotiation skills to influence key stakeholders.
* Ensures project objectives are met by producing detailed project plans, identifying logical next steps and monitoring the progress of project team members
* Manages project risks by producing risk registers with risk treatments and risk controls and regularly monitors their likelihood of eventuating by producing risk reports
* Ability to undertake post-project/post-program benefits reviews, lessons learned and evaluations
Stakeholder Management
* Finds innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues
* Identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs
* Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships
* Uses an understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved
* Knowledge of, and experience with, stakeholders and employees relevant for managing employee health, safety and well-being and emergency management in schools, including liaison with unions and their representatives
Planning and Organising
* Establishes systems and procedures to guide work and track progress
* Identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal
* Recognises actual and potential barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them
* Sets clearly defined objectives and priorities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required
Leadership * Builds team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction.
