There is now an exciting opportunity to join the communications team in a 10 month contract role.
The Communications Officer supports the delivery of the Adelaide Metropolitan Passenger Rail Network (AMPRN) through building long-term relationships with key stakeholders, building knowledge of Keolis Downers world class customer service and rail operations expertise, driving a one-team culture internally, and by supporting the organisations meaningful contribution to the local economy through engagement with SMEs and local business.
Role & Responsibilities

- Provide service and advice to enable effective communications between Keolis Downer Adelaide (KDA) and its stakeholders, driving advocacy and strengthening the position for long-term, positive impact on the local community.
- Drive KDAs growth by building the brand and creating and maintaining a favourable public image through communicating programs, milestones and achievements, while proactively managing issues.
- Produce a wide range of communications support, including developing corporate and internal communication campaigns and materials, strategic plans, and general content development.
- Work with team leaders to deliver, manage and execute communication campaigns and public relations activities that promote KDA initiatives in line with our communications strategy and media policy.
- Coordinate reactive communications in response to issues and incidents as required.
- Help to drive and support a customer-focused culture at KDA.
- Work with the Keolis Downer Group and other national subsidiaries to ensure best practice is shared and implemented throughout our business.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, or a related field
- Strong ability to develop clear, compelling content that connects and engages audiences and effectively communicates key messages
- Proven experience in customer service or information provision in a customer-centric environment
- Experience working within a large and complex organisation or equivalent role as a communications officer within the public or private sector
- Well-developed organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and perform effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Success in delivering proactive, positive communications to meet business requirements in an issues rich and complex environment
- A demonstrated ability to write high quality media responses under time pressure
- Ability to produce well-written material, effectively communicating key strategic messages
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes for KDA
- Alignment to our core values reflected in your daily conduct and delivery of tasks
- Demonstrate a can-do work ethic with strong alignment to our core operating values
- Knowledge and understanding of the South Australian public transport sector and its contribution to the community, tourism sector and economy would be advantageous
