The councils City Operations portfolio are seeking a City Arborist to join as the councils arboricultural specialist. A diverse and unique senior level position within the council.
City Arborist:
Working in partnership with the councils Coordinator for Environmental Assets, you will be responsible for the professional direction and support in the assessment, planning and management of councils arboriculture assets.
This is a unique position, which draws on engagement with several internal stakeholders including the City development, Field Operations and Engineering teams.
Your new role will involve:

- Providing expert advice, ensuring the Council meets its obligations for the assessment of trees on both Council and private lands (including consultation with the Council and private arboriculture consultants) according to the Development (Regulated Trees) Amendment Act 2009.
- Supporting the council with technical expertise in the development and implementation of community engagement initiatives as they relate to the benefits of trees and their maintenance.
- Providing technical expertise in the Development of asset based vegetation management systems.
- Managing all trees under the Council's care and control, in line with the Councils Tree Management Policy and other Legislative requirements.
- Developing, guiding and promoting a strategic approach to the management of arboriculture assets, incorporating sustainability, biodiversity, canopy cover and climate ready principals in line with the resilient East adaptation Plan.
- Supporting the Councils Field Officers in relation to Arboriculture works.
To be successful you will need:
- Diploma Arboriculture or extensive equivalent experience.
- Experience in the interpretation and application of the Development (Regulated Trees) Amendment Act 2009.
- Comprehensive technical expertise relevant to arboriculture.
- Current White Card
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Highly developed communication skills that fosters positive working relationships both internally and externally.
- Competent IT skills that enable the use of corporate systems in the day to day work activities.
