The role
The Senior Engineer Generator Stability Assessment is responsible for providing technical leadership as part of an expert team that delivers complex network stability and planning assessments of all new major loads, generators and dynamic plant connected to the Energy Queensland (EQL) Network. This includes performing complex network analysis, assessing performance against regulatory requirements, supporting the development and evolution of policy, process and regulation, and providing support to customers, consultants and other EQL staff in their area of expertise.
You would play a key role in managing the energy transition to renewables and the integration of network owned power electronics including batteries.
The candidate
Critical to your success in the role is your: Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and eligible to be a member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust); Registration as an RPEQ Engineer in Queensland; Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills in: Construction, maintenance and operation of electricity distribution, transmission assets and systems Network Planning Studies Generator Connection Studies Dynamic and Transient Stability Studies (RMS and EMT) Power systems analysis packages including PSS/E, PSCAD and PowerFactory Generating systems, their technology and operation and the impacts of their connection on the transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution networks Optimisation and tuning of power electronic control system performance including Energy Storage Systems and Renewable generators Optimisation and tuning of synchronous generator control system performance Effective communication and negotiation skills
High level knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements associated with Customer connections; Ability to synthesise complex information and make commercial and risk based recommendations to optimise network and business outcomes and performance; Availability to participate on a rotational standby roster.
These positions have been evaluated as Professional and Managerial Grade Three (PM3). Remuneration will range from $142,956 - $177,879. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicants knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.
