Job summary
Summerstar Tourist Parks are a group of family-owned and operated Western Australian caravan parks and tourist parks. We operate in the following locations:Esperance, Walpole, Margaret River, Busselton, Jurien Bay, Geraldton, Horrocks Beach, Kalbarri, Carnarvon, Broome, Eighty Mile Beach & Tom Price.
The Compliance & WHS Officer will report to the Operations Manager.
You may reside anywhere between Margaret River and Geraldton, however this role has a work roster that requires working 10 days out of 14. Travel throughout Western Australia to Summerstar Parks, is required 80% of the time (8 days out of 10)
Roles and Responsibilities
Compliance (approximately 70% of the Role)Maintain Summerstars corporate compliance programAssist with the development of company policiesAdvise management on relevant laws and regulationsAudit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or riskEnsure all staff are trained in Company Policies, Procedures and complying with all applicable Government Acts & RegulationsConduct scheduled compliance audits to ensure compliance and possible improvementsMaintain up-to-date written documentationMaintain compliance resource library for staff members to reference Frequent travel to Summerstar Parks is an integral requirement, to train, audit and assist Park Managers & StaffBecome the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Summerstar, in all Compliance matters
Workplace Health & Safety (approximately 30% of the role)Provide advice & direction in the development, implementation and monitoring of WHS policies, plans and programsEnsure compliance with relevant safety legislation and standards and the provision of a safe and healthy work environment for all staffProvide operational guidance and technical expertise with the aim of minimising safety incidents across the organisationDevelop and maintain close working relationships with key across the WHS space, promoting a positive health, safety, and wellbeing cultureAnalyse and report on statistical safety and workers compensation data to identify risks and promote practices to control or eliminate risksBecome the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Summerstar, in Workplace Health & Safety
OperationsAssist the Operations Manager, to ensure Compliance & WHS outcomes and objectives are achievable and can be implemented with minimal impact to Park operationsReview and report on operational policies and proceduresHelp promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high moraleFoster open communication and a positive work culture with Team membersIdentify and address problems and opportunities for the companySupport Park communication
ReportingReport relevant information and work plans after Park visits, in written report formatDeliver verbal updates to the Operations Manager and other Group Managers, as required
Key Skills Excellent communication skills, in writing, over the phone and in person Excellent teamwork skills, you need the ability to win the hearts and minds of the Summerstar team Excellent organisational skills, with the mental agility to keep numerous tasks and projects on track and moving to completion Strong computer literacy is essential to being successful in this role
