The Role:State-wide Mental Health Services is a leader and innovator for a unique corner of the health care industry. We provide a comprehensive suite of services across the areas of mental health, alcohol and drugs, forensic mental health and correctional primary health.
All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce and the Tasmanian community.
The Staff-Specialist Psychiatrist is part of a multidisciplinary Mental Health Service delivering high-quality mental health care and in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.
Available roles for Staff Specialist Psychiatrists include the provision of services in: The general adult Consultation-Liaison (CL) psychiatric service in the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and associated facilities, including the Emergency Department (ED) and the Mental Health Short Stay Unit (MHSSU). The acute general adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Residential facilities run by our Mental Health Service. Community-based Mental Health Services, including the Acute Care Stream (ACS), the Continuing Care Stream (CCS), Mental Health Hospital in the Home (MHHiTH) with further new services in development.
The Sites:
The position is based in Hobart a small boutique city within close proximity to Hobart Airport.
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state. It is located in the City Centre within walking distance of cafes, weekend farmers markets and restaurants serving fantastic fresh Tasmania produce or a home with views of our great mountain and/or river, or you might choose to base yourself in a country town within the greater Hobart area. If you have a family, there are some excellent local primary and secondary schools, with the University of Tasmania on our doorstep.
Community and Residential Services are either located within the inner city of Hobart or within 10km of the RHH.
Details of Appointment:
Permanent, full time, day work (with on-call), position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing ASAP.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant Applicants should note that, for a period of six months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Base Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $163,005 - $247,768 pro rata per annum + 10.5% superannuation
*Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $234,726 -$247,768 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $25,758 per annum Communication allowance of $1948 per annum Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $24,927 per annum Market Allowance. Relocation package. Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement 2019
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employees responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
