An opportunity is now available for an individual to join one of WA Local Governments most dynamic and progressive Planning teams as a Senior Planning Officer. Just 6kms from Perth City, the City of Belmont is growing, resulting in an increase in development and projects to keep our vibrant and ambitious team of planners challenged.
As a Senior Planning Officer you will provide assistance to the Coordinator Planning Projects, ensuring tasks are undertaken in the most effective and efficient manner and all the Citys outcomes are achieved and legislative requirements are satisfied.
This role has a particular focus on providing high level technical advice to various stakeholders on more complex planning projects and development applications (including JDAP applications), as such strong verbal and written communication is a must for this role. Other duties include:Undertaking projects and research for forward planning Reviewing and preparing planning strategies, policies and guidelines for CouncilPreparing amendments to the Local Planning Scheme and monitoring the Schemes performance.Liaising with the general public and developersRepresenting the City as required including at hearings before SATChairing the Development Control Group meetings as requested and liaising with public and developers on matters that ariseAbout you:
To be considered for this position you must have relevant experience within the Planning field, particularly in policy and strategy formulation and implementation, subdivision and development control and Local Planning Schemes. You must also hold formal qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent, to meet eligibility requirements for corporate membership of the Planning Institute of Australia. To be successful you must have excellent communication, project management, decision making and problem solving skills.
