Job summary
The CompanyCovalent Lithium Pty Ltd (Covalent) is the manager appointed by a joint venture between subsidiaries of Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (SQM) and Wesfarmers Limited to develop and operate the Mount Holland Lithium Project, which will be a unique, fully integrated producer of battery quality lithium hydroxide in Western Australia.
The Mount Holland Lithium Project, when constructed, will include a mine and concentrator at Mount Holland, located south of Southern Cross, and a refinery in Kwinana that will produce approximately 50,000 tonnes per year of lithium hydroxide a value-added lithium chemical that is a key input to electric vehicles. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation in the new energy sector. Covalents products will enable the production of up to 1 million electric vehicles per year.

The Role
This role provides leadership and business support to all areas of Mt Holland (including day to day support to the General Manager Mt Holland) and provides a critical interface between Mt Holland and the Covalent Commercial and Finance teams to deliver superior commercial outcomes for the business.
The Commercial Manager is responsible for developing and promoting commercially sound strategies and principles for Mt Holland and providing a key role in developing, implementing and maintaining five-year plans, budgets, cost reporting, business intelligence reporting, contractor management, business improvement and financial analysis.
This is a full-time permanent role based at the Mt Holland mine site on a family friendly 4;3, 4;3, 8;6 roster, ex Perth.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement commercially sound and strategically opportunistic commercial strategies and business improvement initiatives that support the Mt Holland operations. Ensure robust and successful relationships are formed and maintained, internally and externally, to identify and progress opportunities to deliver superior commercial outcomes and cost savings for Mt Holland and Covalent. Provide a key interface role between Mt Holland and the Covalent Commercial and Legal team to support scope definition, tendering, negotiation and contract award. Oversee the post award commercial activities applicable to the Mt Holland site contracts such as flights, catering, mining, diesel and utilities. Contract administration activities include rise and fall adjustments, invoice approvals, usage forecasts, KPI meetings, claims management and delivery against budget. Develop, initiate, maintain and improve site commercial processes and systems. Support and provide subject matter expertise to the business within all commercial decision making. Identify and recommend appropriate strategies to improve value without compromising safety or quality. Ensure understanding of interrelated contracts, schedules, documentation management, financial administration and reporting. Conducts appropriate analysis and evaluation of new opportunities and develop and present business case. Assists in the preparation of business reports, board papers and presentations.
Role Requirements Bachelor Degree qualification in Business Management, Engineering, Finance or Accounting. Post Graduate or MBA qualification in business or a commercial discipline is desirable if the primary degree is engineering. Valid Drivers Licence Minimum 5 years experience at a strategic commercial management level within the mining or resources sector. Ability to influence and direct teams across multiple functions, not directly within the reporting line of the role. Experience managing large service contracts, process improvement, budgeting, financial analysis, strategic planning, capital evaluation and reporting. Familiarity with minerals processing and mining operations.
