Randstad is partnering exclusively with Flinders University to recruit a newly created Category Manager (HEO9) position. This role will oversee a varied group of categories including corporate services, facilities, marketing, HR & travel. Reporting to the Associate Director, Procurement Services you will join a diverse and experienced team of category and procurement professionals. The team has enjoyed stable growth and exceptionally low staff turnover, aided by the Universitys commitment to offering staff development, cross-skilling and flexibility, all while providing outstanding procurement outcomes for their stakeholders.

Your new role will involve

- Leading end to end procurement strategies and processes for your category, delivering exceptional service to your stakeholder group and assisting to deliver the broader commercial objectives of the University
- Managing multiple projects within a challenging supplier market, while maintaining value and commercial outcomes for the university
- Building robust relationships with stakeholders, ensuring engagement and a high level of business partnership
- Conducting commercial negotiations, developing sophisticated negotiation strategies and ensuring true partnership is achieved with your suppliers
- Analysis of and reporting on supplier performance, risks and procurement activities to identify opportunities for improvement
- Participation in the ongoing development of the procurement framework for Flinders, and ensuring the procurement function meets the objectives and aspirations of the University, including our Sustainability Plan, Reconciliation Action Plan, and Modern Slavery Plan.
- Participation with other Australian Universities through the AUPN (Australian Universities Procurement Network) and in the CIPS & Procurement Leaders (Asia Pacific) Awarded University Procurement Hub, involving national peer collaboration, established working groups and best practice roundtables

What you need to succeed

You will be a skilled and personable procurement professional with:

- Experience in end to end sourcing/procurement within a medium to large, or complex organisation, or significant services procurement, and understanding of category management principles
- Experience in the commercial negotiation and drafting of contracts and superior written skills
- A continuous improvement mindset to allow strategic advancements
- Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes in a fast paced environment whilst respect for probity requirements
- You will be a community minded individual, able to work cohesively with your team while showing commitment to the Universitys values and underlying ethos of being Student Centered
- Tertiary qualifications in procurement or other relevant commercial disciplines will be highly regarded
