job detailsUnder the framework of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, Community Recovery is dedicated to establishing a comprehensive support model aimed at actively connecting community members affected by disasters to available recovery supports and services. Notably, these services encompass providing assistance to approved Structural Assistance Grant (SAG) and Resilient Homes Fund (RHF) applicants who are unable to manage property repairs. Additionally, the role involves facilitating access to other forms of financial assistance and psychosocial support to aid applicants in their adaptation and recovery processes.
This project adopts a dual-pronged approach, employing teams stationed in Neighbourhood and Community Centres (NCC) and supported by Community Recovery-based Service Navigators in areas where NCCs are not available.
The position being offered presents a unique opportunity to join the esteemed Community Recovery Service Navigators team, where your role will be to advise clients and fellow team members in relation to aspects of disaster recovery reconstruction activities.
The ideal candidate should possess knowledge and experience in the building or construction area, along with a thorough understanding of the requirements involved in building work, such as the Queensland Building and Construction Board (QBCC) and Master Builders Queensland. Additionally, they should have the ability to establish connections with building services within the community. Furthermore, empathy and patience are essential qualities for effectively working with clients.

- Supporting the Service Navigator team to develop and implement the knowledge and understanding required of their respective roles in relation to reconstruction of buildings.
- Actively participating in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders within and across government and broader human services networks.
- Contributing to a professional environment through personal commitment to, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
- Establishing linkages with existing services and organisations such as the Queensland Building and Construction Board (QBCC) and Master Builders Queensland
- Assisting in guiding clients through the RHF process, quotes and the construction process
- Developing of systems, policies, and procedures to support the implementation of the Service Navigator team
The ideal candidate for this role will be professional, confident and have demonstrated experience in the following areas
- Knowledge and experience in the building or construction area.
- Understanding or the requirements of building work such as the Queensland Building and Construction Board (QBCC) and Master Builders Queensland
- An understanding how to link with building services in the community
- Empathy and patience in working with clients.
