Randstad are proud to partner with a community focused Government Department with ongoing projects to be delivered. We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Director to join our team and provide leadership and high-level project management skills for complex or high-risk projects in the Health Infrastructure service delivery environment.

As the Senior Project Director, you will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to a high standard. You will also need to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at the organisational, state, and national levels.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects using approved project management methodologies. You will also have extensive experience in preparing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on complex program/project budgets, as well as knowledge of financial pressures and constraints impacting on delivery.

As a leader in the department, you will display the values of the Queensland public sector, including putting customers first, unleashing potential, being courageous, empowering people, and turning ideas into action.

The successful candidate will:

- Hold recognised Project Management qualifications with proven ability to plan and monitor works across multiple sites, exhibiting flexibility and implementing site specific strategies to facilitate project delivery.
- Possess knowledge of the planning permit process and Local Authority requirements including planning controls, overlays and State Government Policies; understanding of the NCC and relevant Australian Standards;
- Exhibit a high level working knowledge of project and program management methodologies in addition to extensive high-level experience and successful performance in leading, managing and delivering medium to large scale complex or high-risk projects within a health infrastructure service delivery environment (or similar) to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Demonstrated extensive high-level experience in preparing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on complex program/project budgets and knowledge of financial pressures and constraints impacting on delivery.
- Display high level ability with proven success to lead and manage consultants, contractors and multi-disciplinary project team's line with quality human and financial resource management practices with particular reference to employment equity, anti discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
- Demonstrated highly developed communication, interpersonal, consultation, partnership and negotiation skills to create a strong client focus, influence the decisions, action or perceptions of stakeholders and achieve outcomes and maintain effective relationships with senior and multi-disciplinary staff at the organisational, state and national levels.
- Possess highly developed research skills, analytical and conceptual problem solving skills including the proven capacity to initiate appropriate strategic and operational responses and corrective and preventative solutions to key issues affecting the project/s.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and high-level project management skills in the initiation, development, implementation and evaluations of complex or high risk projects in line with the department's approved project management methodologies.
- Effectively manage the engagement and performance of project consultants and contractors to enable the delivery of an on time, on budget quality project.
- Supervise, manage and motivate multi-disciplinary team/s within a complex health environment to achieve project goals and outcomes and to ensure project management capability is maintained.
- Proactively supervise, manage and influence project management activities, in line with the departments project management methodology (project life-cycle), developing formal project plans, budgets, supporting documentation and records and registers.
- Lead and facilitate the establishment, collection and management of accurate financial, human resource and project activity information to guide and influence stakeholders in the evaluation of current and future performance in meeting fiscal and project targets and strategic goals.
- Prepare, maintain and disseminate high quality documentation throughout the project life cycle including project plans, operational plans, status reports, submissions, briefings and consultative documents.
- Provide high level support and advice to ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement arrangements are established and maintained with internal and external stakeholders, clients and service providers to ensure that the project outcomes are achieved.
- Ensure effective liaison and consultation internally and externally to provide timely authoritative advice to all management levels within the Branch, the department and external central agencies and represent the department with external agencies.
- Represent the department in liaison, negotiation and consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and manage complex situations and project risks and develop responses and preventative solutions to issues affecting the project/s in consultation and negotiation with key stakeholders.
- Prepare and coordinate written complex communication on a wide range of subjects, including confidential and sensitive matters (e.g. ministerial briefs, questions on notice, parliamentary briefs, and cabinet submissions).

Requirements of this role include:

- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar or Senior/Principal Project Management role.
- It is a mandatory requirement for the successful candidate to hold a general construction induction card (previously called a white card).
- Hold a C class motor vehicle licence, which must be provided before commencement of duty.
- Ability to work autonomously and utilise discretion in the absence of the decision makers.
- Current working rights in Australia

It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives of ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
