Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Digital Development you will be responsible for:
- Acting in a technical leadership role to team of data engineers (cross-skill and up-skill)
- Support collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the team to prevent single points of failure and enhance capability
- Developing robust, secure, and appropriate data engineering designs
- Analysing data lineage from source systems
- Conducting complex data analysis, preparing data for modelling, combining data from different sources
- Applying knowledge of database design, dimensional modelling, entity relationship data modelling, data virtualisation
- Hands-on work across the full data engineering lifecycle (covering requirements, design, testing, deployment, implementation, etc.)
- Acting to maintain data quality and data privacy/security.
- Adoption and use of Agile frameworks, including utilising DataOps
- Identifying solutions to problems, and opportunity for enhancements.
- Working with Operational Lead to ensure the incidents, service requests and demands/project tasks assigned to the Data Engineering Team are resolved within the timelines defined by the relevant SLA / OLAs.
The Successful Applicant
To be considered for and successful in this role you will:
- Arrive with demonstrated skills and experience using the Azure Data Services technologies, specifically Gen2 Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Databricks and ADF
- Ideally have contributed to a digital transformation project / cloud migration work in the past
- Be competent across the full data engineering lifecycle, with a specific focus to design and build
- Have experience in setting up and working within CI/CD frameworks to maintain operational functionality during integration, testing and deployment / redeployment activities
- Be ready to share your data engineering skills and knowledge with a team in a technical leadership role, whilst building your own leadership and project management skills
