The Household Survey Operations (HSO) section is seeking to fill several APS4 & APS5 Operations and Team Support Officer roles in our Canberra and Geelong offices. These are full-time 12 month opportunities with the possibility of extension.
About the area:
These roles are based in the Household Survey Operations (HSO) team within the National Data Acquisition Division (NDAD). NDAD is responsible for providing a wide range of high quality, timely and cost-effective data collection services to support production of ABS business and household population statistics.
HSO manage the operations of the household survey program including the ABSs household Field Interviewer workforce who conduct many of the ABSs surveys, in the field. Read more about the Field Interviewer workforce here.
What we are looking for:
Operations and Team Support Officers will be highly organised individuals who are able to take responsibility for managing work projects to achieve results. They will be clear communicators with the ability to listen to, understand and recognise the needs of others.
Ideally you will have most or all the following qualities, experiences, and skills:
ability to support the management of a small teambuild and sustain positive relationship with team members, including the ability to work collaboratively contribute to team objectives.demonstrated ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, developed verbal and written communication skills and presentation skillsadhere to documented procedures, and has the ability to achieve results within a dynamic, complex and fast-paced operational environmentan understanding of the work health and safety challenges and an ability to identify risks and uncertainties of processes and tasks.strategic thinking and an understanding of how your teams work contributes to organisational objectivesconceptual, analytical and creative skills, including the ability to problem solve to innovative solutions.
If applying for the APS5 role, you must demonstrate team management and supervisory skills, including the ability to promote high performance, cohesion and development with a team.
About the roles:
Operational and Team Support Officers oversee teams that are responsible for the timely despatch and/or collection of household and business information including confidential data.
Roles and responsibilities may vary, however typical responsibilities include:
assist with the management of teams in a fast-paced data collection environment, including the allocation of work to deliver quality outcomes in a timely manner. support an inclusive and culturally safe work environment, with a focus on the development of staff and career progression support a team to ensure the quality and effective collection, printing and despatch of survey information and materials to meet tight deadlinessupport program reporting, monitoring survey response rates, resource allocations, operational planning, data analysis and quality assuranceidentifying and supporting process improvement by analysing issues and developing solutions to improve work practices.
In the APS5 role, in addition to the above you will be required too:
manage a team and Field Interviewers cohort (including the performance and development of staff) in a fast-paced data collection environment, including work allocation to deliver quality outcomes in a timely mannermanage a team across various locations to ensure the quality and effective collection, printing and despatch of survey information and materials to meet tight deadlines
