Position Summary

An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Lead Civil Design Engineer to join Bechtel's Mining & Metals team in Perth.
With a strong pipeline of projects now is truly the right time to join this innovative multi-disciplinary team and play a key role in driving success by providing valued design modelling expertise.

This is a senior role, leading the civil-civil design group in delivering quality bulk earthworks and drainage design deliverables within budget and schedule. We'll also be asking you to set and maintain technical standards, ensure quality and accuracy of design, and forge effective working relationships with your counterparts in other design disciplines to achieve optimum value for our clients.

Project Summary - Your First Project Role with Us
The Minister's North Project is a significant Iron Ore project that Bechtel has been engaged to undertake from the study phase by one of our key clients (BHP). This haulage and ore handling process project involves both greenfields and brownfields developments, with major earthworks through challenging terrain as well as close collaboration with the client to plan civil works within an operating plant area.
About the role:
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will: Manage the civil deliverable efforts to meet project cost and schedule commitments, including progress reporting and change management Review and guide the civil design process to meet client and project requirements Apply construction experience to deliver safe and cost-effective design Administer senior civil engineers and mentor junior engineers Work with lead engineers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements Prepare briefings and present to senior management, and client representatives as required Participate in and facilitate design review sessions, both internal and with the client Demonstrate a commitment to safety in design and adhere to applicable Australian standards Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction.
About you Civil engineering qualifications - Bachelor Degree Post-graduate qualifications will be highly regarded At least 15-years of civil engineering practice preferred Design office engineering expertise essential Demonstrated project delivery experience Demonstrated team leadership experience Experience in preliminary and feasibility design studies will be an advantage Proven experience in applying Austroads, civil/mining industry and regulatory standards, civil design criteria and guidelines Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other discipline teams associated with the total design effort Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multi discipline / transglobal team Willingness to mentor junior or less experienced members of the team Mining project experience whilst preferred is not essential.
