job detailsAn exciting opportunity exists for an Unlimited Building Surveyor (BS-U) to join the Victorian Building Authority as a Municipal Building Surveyor.
The role
The Municipal Building Surveyor will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic and technical advisory of primary importance to relevant agency and Departmental Executive team members at all levels, including to the offices of the Secretary and the Minister.
- Providing authoritative technical advice, within the area of professional expertise on issues associated with compliance with the Building Act 1993 (Vic), Building Interim Regulations 2017 (Vic) and the National Construction Code.
- Contributing to the strategic direction, frameworks and programs in conjunction with the team for the Statewide Cladding audit function, utilising research into, and understanding of, new and emerging industry issues and trends to proactively forecast and clarifying priorities for the VBA.
What you will need to be successful
As the Municipal Building Surveyor (BS-U), you will possess an advanced knowledge of the building industry, the regulatory framework, codes, regulations and standards in Victoria and/or other Australian jurisdictions, with experience in the practical application of relevant legislation and regulations.
The Municipal Building Surveyor will have a demonstrated ability in building stakeholder relations, including negotiating, liaising, and influencing to reach shared consensus or achieve desired outcomes.
A registration as a Building Surveyor Unlimited (BS-U) is a mandatory requirement.
