About the role
We are calling for candidates from Newcastle to move to Perth for this opportunity.
In your new role as the Senior Surveyor in our head office in Perth, Western Australia, your primary responsibility will be to provide supervisory and support to Thiesss Australian West projects, including WA, SA and the NT. In partnership with mining engineering, this role will identify possible solutions in data capture, emphasising the integration of spatial information, manage the effective use of spatial data being captured and reconcile the end of monthly claim data.
This role will be integral for commercial success in Western Australia, implementing the Thiess process and seamlessly building client support and loyal relationships.
The successful applicant will also work closely with teams to develop and review Thiesss Project Governance System (PGS) survey operational and technical guidelines and standards and ensure theyre maintained and supported through the correct use of equipment, processes and trained staff. The role calls for timely audits and inspections to ensure compliance with the standards. In your new role, you will be able to identify, communicate and facilitate survey systems that will improve site survey efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
NB: As the role is based in Western Australia, frequent travel will be required across our projects. Short-term site secondments may also be required as part of this role.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will be a surveyor with a broad knowledge of mine operation regulatory and legislative requirements and extensive experience in mine surveying. You have a demonstrated and collaborative approach to working on large-scale, open-cut mining operations; WA Authorised Mine Surveyor (grade 2) is highly desirable. You will be a committed and dependable client liaison for seamless integration with our newly acquired MACA counterparts to drive initiatives and build sustainable relationships on mine sites. Moreover, your interpersonal skills will set you up for success as you will have had exposure to autonomous operations and experience in the safe operation of UAVs on mine sites.
You have had experience motivating and supporting mine surveyors and are proficient in Maptek, Vulcan and Point Studio, Dewsik or Surpac and photogrammetry techniques and associated software, Agisoft, as well as experience with UAVs (drone flying).
