About the role:
Based in Western Victoria and reporting to the Eastern Australian Rehabilitation Manager, the Environment Superintendent ensures that the mining rehabilitation and operations across 4 sites, are operated to minimise environmental impact and remain fully compliant with the companys HSEC Management System and legislative requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with company WHS policies and procedures
- Manage a small team of environmental professionals
- Review, update and maintain HSEC management system
- Manage environmental monitoring and compliance reporting
- Cost control & contractor management
- Review and vet the integrity of environmental data
- Coordinate scheduled and ad-hoc site visits by regulatory authorities and agencies
- Establish cooperative relationships with applicable groups and landowners
Person profile
- Detailed knowledge of core environmental disciplines (flora, fauna, groundwater, surface water, waste management, dust and radiation).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management, reporting and presentation skills.
- Able to effectively engage with external organisations
Essential Qualifications:
- At least 10 years environmental management experience in mining or related industries
- Experience in radiation management
- Experience in the supervision of personnel, contractors and other personnel
- Experience with environmental and regulatory approvals
- Degree in Environmental Science (or equivalent field)
- Excellent IT skills (Office suite, GIS applications, databases)
- Current Drivers License
- Experience in project management and management of budgets
- Thorough knowledge of environmental monitoring and analytical methods
Desired Qualifications:
- Radiation management experience (as a Radiation Safety Officer)
- SAP, Cintellate experience
- Desktop and field GIS and survey skills (ArcGIS)
- Senior First Aid
- 4WD competency
This permanent role is offered on a 5/2-4/3 DIDO or residential roster. Hotel/Motel style accommodation may be negotiated for the right candidate.
