Job Description
- Supporting the Senior Manager Extension, Regional Managers, Managers and Panels in the professional delivery of Grower Extension activities within a GRDC region, while contributing as required to national extension programs.
- Responsible for liaising, engaging, facilitating, promoting and informing growers, panels and relevant industry stakeholders on specific GRDC research Extension events and activities which will have an impact on grower profit.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key extension providers and work with regional communication activities to encourage grower participation at regional extension events and activities aimed at improving grower and adviser engagement and uptake of new practices and technologies.
- Provide the Senior Manager with solid investment proposals and accompanying business cases that identify and propose responses to grower constraints and opportunities on a regional basis, which may be addressed through Extension events and activities.
- Responsible to ensure Extension Provider contracts are approved, in budget and timely. Monitor contracts to ensure projects/ events are delivered as per agreed milestones.
- Collaborate with the Grower Communications team to provide support on design and look of campaigns and to promote Grower Extension events and activities.
The Successful Applicant
- Demonstrated minimum 5 years sound knowledge of related industry experience in an Agricultural Account Management role or Agronomy advising/extension role or R&D field particularly in delivery of R&D outputs or other products in a competitive environment.
- Demonstrated experience or ability to work with grain growers & their advisers, and an understanding of farming systems in the Northern region.
- Demonstrated experience in project negotiation, facilitation and management of contracts involving commercial, private and public sector partners in a relevant industry.
- Demonstrated ability to develop sound investment and business cases for based on return to growers, acknowledging that the path to market may involve commercially orientated stakeholders.
- Proven experience coaching, mentoring and developing teams.
- Proven understanding of commercial principles including finance, brand management, IP management, licensing and agreement development.
- Highly developed presentation, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and develop others.
- Strong analytical skills and the capacity to leverage off external expertise and think strategically, including the ability to provide sound project and issue advice.
- An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to synthesise information and provide a summary and recommended options based on this.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuously up-date necessary skills and knowledge as required for this role.
- Degree in Science, Agricultural Science, Event Management, Community Consultation or equivalent.
