About the role:

The Senior Microsoft SQL Developer/DBA will be a member of the Architecture and Development Team. The role will have project and operational responsibilities.

We are looking for a senior SQL developer to analyse / gather requirements, develop MS-SQL queries and procedures, create custom reports, and tune them to perform efficiently with large datasets.

What success looks like in this role:

Key ResponsibilitiesUnderstand/interpret business data requirements, analyse/map to existing data sets and design data transformations for ETL and reporting Design and model database schemas, their normalisation and dataflowsDevelopment of high quality database solutions (queries and reports)Develop, implement and optimize stored procedures and functions Research required data and design efficient transformations from a variety of applications and databasesAnalyze existing SQL queries and identify performance improvement opportunities and guide developers and operations in good practice for SQL.Review, design and build secure data extracts/transformations and load processes to meet external demands Refine strategy and enhance the platform for analytics and reporting.Guides other developers and operations personnel in design, build, test and operations of SQL databases and reports. Establishes standards for SQL development to best leverage the latest Microsoft technologies (2019) and guidelines for secure code development.Undertakes code reviews.

Skills and KnowledgeStrong technical skills in SQL

Microsoft SQL 2019 to SQl 2008

SSRS reporting service

SSIS Integration services

Stored procedure development

OLAP / Cubes)Monitoring and improving SQL Query performance optimisation, indexing and performance monitoringDeveloping SQL scripts, programs, databasesMicrosoft Reporting tools e.g, Tableau, Power BIGood knowledge of HTML and JavaScript Working with Jira, Confluence in agile project deliveryFamiliarity with the practical application of NoSQLNewSQL databasesUnderstanding of the data specifications for CDR and Australian Banking dataset would be very beneficial.Be keen to learn and committed to expand skills in a variety of SQL databases such as Progress beyond Microsoft SQL.

Previous ExperienceMust be a proven, certified SME with extensive experience in hands-on Microsoft SQL Development for at least 10+ years Must have a good understanding of database administration and operations with at least 3+ years in this doman.Must have a good understanding of SQL ETL and OLAP with at least 3+ years in this domain.Optionally Progress Database developer/administrator.

Key QualificationsMS SQL certificationsBS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
