OGIA is an independent and separately funded entity with a focused role in assessing cumulative impacts from resource development. The multidisciplinary technical team comprises a combination of hydrogeologists, geologists, ecologists and modellers with additional support from some of the worlds leading modelling experts.
The role of the Numerical Modeller would be primarily to assist with developing, calibrating and running impact assessment/hypothesis-testing models of varying complexities, and/or be part of a modelling team to support various components of regional-scale cumulative impact assessment modelling.
The key duties and accountability of the successful candidate will include:
- Support numerical groundwater flow modelling/geomechanical modelling/ ground movement modelling projects for the assessment of groundwater impacts from resource development in the Surat and Bowen Basins.
- Review and prepare high quality written technical reports, briefs and submissions to support high level programs, as well as providing formal and informal verbal reports to the executive teams.
- Coordinate interaction with various research organisations and agencies in relation to the modelling project.
- Liaise with and participate in multi-disciplinary teams to progress projects and hydrogeological analysis.
- Review and prepare technical reports, presentations and project documents.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in either hydrogeology, groundwater modellings, geomechanical modellings, geology, hydrology, engineering or computer science..
- Strong programming skills and familiarity with relevant processing tools in Python (Pandas, NumPy, GeoPandas, FloPy)
Additionally they will demonstrate strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives of ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
